I had this great post planned about how Gwen Stefani is nuts (who samples the marionette song from the Sound of Music?) and how John Mayer is politically inept (things really suck, I guess we'll just wait?), but the truth is that I am wiped out. I know it's only Day 2 of true teething and Alliclaus has been remarkably easy, but it is really draining to deal with an unhappy baby all day.
I'm going to bed. Tomorrow: Britney - Did we learn nothing from Paris?
Did you notice that Gwen has a habit of sampling from classic musicals? "If I Was A Rich Girl" is a play off of "If I Was A Rich Man" From Fiddler on the Roof.

Aha! John Mayer is the new Alanis with all of her (non) irony. The song is a little odd- "people think my generation doesn't care and isn't interested, but really we're just sitting around and waiting for things to change before we get involved."
Good one, John.
And oh yes, sleep. We love sleep.

Poor little girl--I hope she is not too unhappy for too long--I know that teething is not easy!
Britney--I guess you can take the girl our of the trailer park, but not the trailer out of the girl!

Okay so I guess this isn't a big deal, but I just love John Mayer way too much to not comment on this post. The title, 'Waiting On The World To Change', was purposely worded that way to imply a sense of feeling like you're in this situation where you know what's going on around you, but you also know how limited you are in your ability (and your generation's ability) to change it. So that even though you are ready for and want change, you know that that can't happen until the world is in a position where that action will mean something and will be noticed. So it's "Waiting On The World To Change" not "Waiting For The World To Change"...as in 'I'm ready world, I'm just waiting on you', not "I think things need to change, so why doesn't the world do something and I'm gonna sit around and wait for it'.
And now I am done defending John Mayer :)
