Just recently, I told someone, "I'm going to learn to knit in January. That's when all my friends will have had their babies and I will have time to take up a new hobby."
Two friends told me today that they are pregnant. I couldn't be happier for them, but really? I want to learn to knit already.
Updated to add: I know that I am not obligated to make anyone a baby blanket. I do it because I want to. I'm not bummed to make these blankets. I simply wish there were more hours in the day.
Who needs Kokopelli when Bethiclaus is your friend?

I just finished a baby blanket for a friend who's baby just turned 6 weeks old. I tried desperately to finish it before she had the baby but just couldn't get it done. Now I need to start one for my sister who is due in April. Hopefully I'll get that one done before the baby is born!

oooh! knitting is so much fun, but alooooot slower than crochet! I think you'll like it, but I think that you will return to crochet pretty quickly.
good luck with all the blankies!

That is so nice of you, it doesn't matter if there on time or not...its the thought!

I totally want to learn to knit too. My gram is a pro at it but I never sat with her to learn. Maybe that is something I can do when I am out to visit in January... It just seems like such a great skill to have.

You seem to have some fertile friends! I have a lot of married friends who have no interest in having babies, so I'm off the hook for a little while at least. Although, I do have a niece or nephew coming in April, so I guess I should get something together for her or him.
