I am a totally craptastic photographer. I would show you some of my better work, but I can't even begin to use precious blogging time to upload those pictures. Really, I just don't want to die of embarrassment.
Sarah once had me help her on a photography project (which she should totally post to her blog). She needed someone to take two photographs of her as part of it. In spite of all the help she gave me, the final picture had my shadow on her legs and a pole coming out of her head.
But I have this baby now. And she's really cute. And no matter how good the pictures turn out, I don't want to spend crazy amounts of money to have her pictures taken professionally (although I did and they turned out oh so sweet).
So I've been thinking about taking a photography class. My problem? How many classes am I going to have to take to learn how to take a good picture of my daughter? I don't want to photograph mountains or flowers. I just don't care about that stuff. I want to take pictures of my baby. Maybe other people but really? Just her.
Plus, I distinctly remember Sarah working with film. Blah. I think that it is wonderful to be able to develop your own photographs. I just don't want to do it. I need to find a class titled, "Take reasonably good pictures of your adorable baby with a mid-range digital camera."
Anyone know of a place I can do that?
can i at least hold the aliclaus in the photos?

We have thousands of pictures...some turn out really great and others are well, of boogers, side of face and a lot of just hair.
That would be a lot of fun to take a class. Could I take one about how to use all the functions on the camera! Beacuse really there are about 50 different settings and I just use whatever turns on.

I think picture taking is something you either just have or you don't. I say do what Jenny does though. She wasn't kidding when she said she hs thousands of pictures. If you take enough several should turn out professional quality. That's how I've gotten many a fine picture of my babies (being that I'm a crazy cat lady my babies are my two kitties). They invented digital cameras for people like us. This way you can delete and not waste money on pictures with your thumb over the shutter.

I would check some of the independent fancy pants camera stores in the area...ask them...often times they are doing like a workshop--i have even seen them advertised as "take better pics of your kids" and stuff like that...also, try a community college they will often have a night class that will help.

I am lousy at taking photos of people. I would go for the "lots of shots for a few good" method. Don't forget to experiment with the camera as well. The next time we meet, bring your camera and the manual and we will see what we can learn together. The other thing is you can make a bad shot better with software. Try Picasa from Google. It is free and decent.

Check to see if any colleges in your area offer "evening courses". They're usually full of older people, so they're really basic. I swear the one around her has one that's basically "How to turn on your computer". Good luck!
