Oh My Goodness

I'm at work (as I always am on Saturday morning) and I am ready to lose my stuff at one of my coworkers.

Our department has never been a department where people played the radio in their cubes (because we have manners). Our new team member likes to listen to country music at work. I don't have a problem with country music in general. It's all I listened to when I was a kid. However, this girl doesn't understand a couple of things. First, if you are not at your desk, no one else wants to listen to your music. Second, there is a volume control knob on your radio. Use it to keep your music quiet.

I generally just keep my mouth shut. And I'm sure I will today as well, because, well, I'm a wimp. But she just turned up her radio for that damn Have You Forgotten song where I'm convinced that the writer really just wanted to show that he can rhyme with anything, even Bin Laden. And lest I think that she just didn't understand how loud her radio was, she turned it down as soon as the song was over.

I think I'm going to start playing peace protest music in my cube.

You know what works for me at work...walking over to there cube and handing them a set of headphones. Blunt but effective.

I used to share an office with a girl that liked to listen to music. Not a problem usually, until she brought in some spoken-word-to-lame-music crap. I put the kibbosh on that really fast because there was no way I could have dealt with that for more than the 10 whole minutes it lasted.

The guy in the cube next to me (who is seriously 75 years old) likes to listen to Christian Rock on his headphones. Which is great. Except he sings along SUPER LOUD. I am horrible and love it when he does this, because it is so funny. He doesn't even know he's doing it.

Hi Bethiclaus! I'm here via Grace's blog.

Sometimes I think I'd prefer somebody else's radio to all the talking talking talking in the cubes surrounding me. I take my work and move to a quiet room to get away. Headphones just don't cut it.

But when I think about confronting people I break out in a sweat. So that's out. :)
