So, I got my nose pierced exactly a month ago today. For the last two weeks or so, I have been battling keloid scars. This is interesting primarily because keloid scars happen primarily to darkly-pigmented people and I am, quite possibly, the whitest white girl you ever met.
Anway, keloid scars are a bubble-like scar that develops around the piercing site. I have a small one on the outside of my nose and a very large (and disgusting, don't forget disgusting) one inside my nostril.
I have heard that you should crush aspirin and combine it with water to make a paste to put on the keloid and that it will eventually dry up and fall off. This is working great on the one outside my nose.
The keloid inside my nose is much more frustrating. Firs of all, it's quite difficult to get the aspirin paste to stick to the inside of my nose. Gravity is fighting against me. But more than that, the aspirin paste seems to make my allergies go crazy. I am a nose breather, so I end up inhaling the aspirin, then having a sneezing fit. Then my nose begins to run and all the aspirin runs out with it.
So my question to the Internet is: Do any of you know of any home remedies for these damn things? One doctor-website-thingie said that the only way to truly get rid of them is to take out the ring. But I just got it a month ago, and I'm not ready to get rid of it yet!
Help.
I have had problems with keloids as well as my sister. I have scars on my knees and arms from when I was like 4 years old. One on my arm was the result of a blood test I had in junior high! The best solution is to not stick needles into your body.

Okay, I'm stalking. Hope you don't mind. And you may get a response or two to a post that is an age old. Like this one. Sorry. I, too, am whiter than white, and I had a keloid scar after falling off my bike. 18 years ago. The keloid part has gone - it's now just a regular scar. That looks like I've been clawed by a (very, very small) lion. The thing I remember about it when it first happened was that a) it wouldn't heal for weeks after the fall and b) the ITCH. It would drive me crazy. Fpor months afterwards. Anyway, hope yours got better :)

i actually have a keloid (also called hypotrophic) on the cartlidge top part of my ear. it started developing about 8 months after i got my barbell. it only happened to the bottom part of the piercing. it was getting really uncomfortable and i couldn't sleep on it. i figured it just was a bad piercing and i was gonna have to take it out (and i LOVED it). as soon as i took it out the scarring started. bigger and bigger and bigger. fast forward to about 2 1/2 yrs later and it's probably the size of a grape. i can't even put my hair up b/c it's so embarrasing. i did hear aspirin paste helps. a girl told me that it did work when she got one on the bottom of here tongue ring. i also heard sea salt helps....assuming u crush that up also. PLEASE let me know if the aspirin is working. i'm going to start trying so i don't spend a million dollars at with sum doctor.
